Information sought after elderly man found killed in Pretoria
An abandoned vehicle lead security stakeholders to a house in the Moot area where they found a deceased man.
A man, believed to be in his 80s, was killed during a house robbery in Moot, north of Pretoria, at around 13:00 on Saturday.
According to Life Guard Security’s Kobus Olivier, the security company received a tip-off about a car abandoned on Soutpan Road in Pretoria North.
“Our Life Guard Priority Crimes Unit received information from Apiesrivier-Noord Gemeenskap Forum about the abandoned vehicle. The unit got the address of the vehicle’s owner who stays in the Moot area,” says Olivier.
He adds the unit then proceeded to the address where they found a deceased old man.
“A man believed to be in his 80s was found deceased in the house, and the conclusion was made that the vehicle was stolen during a house robbery,” Olivier explains.
He says the vehicle, with various items believed to have been taken from the house, was kept safe and handed over to the police.
A case of house robbery and fatal assault was opened, according to him, and no arrests have been made thus far.
