JD Group commits to rebuild and reopen looted shops

Retail group challenges South Africans to unite and rebuild together.

The JD Group of companies yesterday (July 15) announced that it is committed to rebuilding and re-establishing the outlets that were damaged and destroyed during the looting and protests.

“The unprecedented events of the past week have brought about unimaginable destruction and damage, which has impacted the safety, security and livelihoods of so many innocent individuals and businesses.

“Our thoughts are with each and every person impacted by these events. It is our sincere hope that calm is quickly restored and that we are able to join hands as communities and South Africans to commence the rebuilding process.”

The groups says that unfortunately, there has been significant damage to a number of its stores and partner facilities, which will take some time to rebuild and restock.

“For now, our first priority is to ensure that our team and their families in the affected areas are safe.”

The group says it is cognisant of the important role its business plays in the affected communities, not only as an employer but also as a vital outlet for appliances and home furnishings, allowing consumers to create comfortable homes.

“We therefore commit to work day and night to ensure that we are up and running as soon as possible in the affected stores!”

The group’s brands – Incredible Connection, HiFi Corp, Rochester, Bradlows, Russells and Sleepmasters – remain accessible via their respective websites and online shopping can take place 24/7.

“We are working closely with our logistics and couriers partners to ensure we are able to get the goods to you as soon as is humanly possible and that normal lead times are re-established in affected areas as soon as the situation allows.

“We are a resilient nation that has overcome so many challenges and we challenge you to join hands with us as we unite and rebuild together.”
