Job seeker dies after jumping off bridge to flee robbers in KZN
A man who jumped from a bridge to escape robbers spoke to officers working on a railway line before he passed away.
A job seeker who was robbed yesterday morning died after he jumped off a bridge in Phoenix, near Durban, as he was fleeing from two people.
According to an article published by The Witness, Prem Balram, the spokesperson for Reaction Unit South Africa, says the man was robbed of his shoes and valuables.
“When witnesses were interviewed, it was established that the man was en route to seek employment when he was accosted by two [robbers]. The victim broke free and jumped off the bridge onto a railway line to escape,” says Balram.
He adds that officers working on the railway line found the critically injured man at around 07:00 and he told them that he had been robbed.
The man died before paramedics arrived.
