Julius Malema’s court case postponed

EFF leader Julius Malema's firearm case was scheduled for closing arguments, but the case has been postponed.

The East London Regional Court has postponed the firearm case against Julius Malema, leader of the EFF, until December 9 due to the ill health of Magistrate Twanet Olivier.

The matter, postponed in chambers by agreement, was deferred in the absence of Malema, his co-accused, and their defence teams.

The case was initially set for closing arguments to be presented by the state and the defence following the conclusion of the defence’s evidence.

Malema and co-accused, security company director Adriaan Snyman, face charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, discharging a firearm in a built-up area, failure to take reasonable precautions regarding persons or property, and reckless endangerment.
