KFC drops iconic ‘Finger Lickin’ Good’ slogan

KFC noted that due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the 64-year-old slogan "doesn't feel quite right."

Whether it’s a Streetwise 2 or Chicken Pops, there’s nothing better than ‘finger lickin’ good’ chicken from KFC, but the fast food giant has decided to let go of its iconic slogan… for now.

Amid the Covid-19 pandemic, the new norm is washing your hands more often and avoiding touching your face. This, KFC says, is part of the reason why they are dropping the slogan as they say it ‘doesn’t feel quite right.’

In a YouTube video, posted on KFC’s channel, the slogan can be seen blurred out on billboards and buckets, and Yum Brands, who owns KFC, say they plan to change the slogan for the chain for the time being.

KFC’s Global Chief Marketing Officer, Catherine Tan-Gillespie, in a statement, said the menu isn’t changing and the chain will return to the iconic slogan ‘when the time is right’.

For now, savour the taste of your favourite piece of chicken before thinking of licking your fingertips as you usually would.
