Kidnapped Mpumalanga municipal manager and driver found

The Nkangala District municipal manager and her driver were kidnapped last week Thursday.

Maggie Skhosana and her female driver, Gugu Mtsweni, have been found alive.

Skhosana, who is wheelchair-dependent, is the manager of the Nkangala District Municipality in Mpumalanga. She and Mtsweni were kidnapped in front of the municipal grounds in Middelburg last week Thursday. Their vehicle was later found abandoned near Middelburg.

According to a press release by the Mpumalanga SAPS earlier today, the women were dumped by their assailants next to the N14 in Diepsloot, Gauteng last night.

Colonel Donald Mdluli says Mtsweni was tied up but managed to get to the road where she flagged down a taxi driver.

After the police were called, they managed to find Skhosana in bushes next to the road.

The women were taken to the Steve Biko Academic Hospital for medical treatment before they were later reunited with their families.

Mdluli says that the suspects are still at large.

Mpumalanga provincial commissioner, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela thanked all role-players who assisted in finding and reuniting the women with their families.
