Klarinet family held up at gunpoint during house robbery

Armed intruders targeted a home just north of eMalahleni, moving from room to room to strip a sleeping mother, an aunt and children of their valuables.

A family in Klarinet, just north of eMalahleni, was robbed at gunpoint after two men broke into their home while they slept, reports Witbank News.

According to the police, the victim told them that last week on Tuesday (23 June), around 22:45, the family went to sleep with all doors and windows properly locked. She said that a few hours later, she was awakened by the sound of a door opening and opened her eyes to find 2 armed men entering her bedroom.

They asked the woman about her husband’s whereabouts. When she said he was not home, the men reportedly took three cellphones from her headboard. She said the robbers then proceeded to the other rooms, where the children and an aunt slept, taking every cellphone they could find. The woman was also robbed of cash she had in the house.

The robbers then searched the rest of the house and stole clothes, sneakers, a TV and a laptop.

A case of house robbery was opened and Witbank SAPS is investigating the matter.
