KZN beach drowning victim identified

The identity of yesterday's drowning victim near Amanzimtoti was confirmed to be a Chatsworth resident who was reported missing earlier that morning.

The woman who drowned yesterday morning between Pipeline and Amanzimtoti Main beaches has been identified as a Chatsworth resident who went missing that same morning.

According to Ward 97 councillor, André Beetge, Renegades Search and Rescue circulated a missing person’s report for 50-year-old Thilagree Ellen, a resident of Umhlatuzana, Chatsworth, last seen at around 09:00 yesterday.

Renegades’ report indicated she was last seen driving her Kia Rio hatchback. Since her last sighting, there had been no contact with Ellen.

Beetge said the woman was identified thanks to her vehicle, which was discovered parked close to Amanzimtoti Mall.
