KZN dad stabbed to death on 46th birthday

Chatsworth SAPS is investigating the fatal stabbing of a man outside a liquor/gambling establishment.

A Westcliff, KZN, man was tragically stabbed to death as he celebrated his 46th birthday on Sunday.

Kubendren Govender, also known as Nolan, was murdered in cold blood outside a local liquor/ gambling establishment, just after leaving his wife, Karen Govender, at work.

Communications officer of Chatsworth SAPS, Captain Cheryl Pillay, confirmed that police are investigating a case of murder.

“It is alleged that a 46-year-old male was stabbed during an altercation in Westcliff. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he passed away. Chatsworth SAPS’ serious and violent crimes officers are busy with investigations,” she says.

Since the announcement of his untimely passing, condolences have poured in from hundreds of residents, displaying how well-known Govender was in his community.

In an interview with the Rising Sun, Karen said that the reality of her husband’s passing has not yet hit her, and that it feels unreal.

“Everyone knows him. Nolan never fought or argued with anyone, so I cannot understand why someone would hurt him.

“I was at work when someone ran in and told me what happened, and when I arrived at the scene, I just saw him on the ground.

“We planned to celebrate his birthday after work. Our children never even got the chance to wish him a happy birthday because we left before they had a chance to. Justice must be served,” she told Rising Sun.
