KZN man flees in ambulance, involved in 3 collisions on N3

It is reported that the man jumped into an ambulance and fled while paramedics were busy on an accident scene.

A man who took off in a Midlands EMS ambulance without consent has been arrested after he collided with a car near the Ultra City on the northbound Estcourt route in KwaZulu-Natal earlier today.

It is reported that the man was involved in a crash near Lions River, and while paramedics were attending to the scene, he jumped into their ambulance and fled the scene.

It is believed he was carrying an unlicensed firearm.

A call was made to law enforcement officers along the N3 to be on the lookout for the vehicle, which was heading towards Estcourt.

While driving near the Mooi River Toll Plaza, the man crashed the ambulance into a traffic vehicle belonging to Mpofana Local Municipality. It’s reported that he also collided with a truck while fleeing.

He did not get very far after he caused a third collision near Ultra City where he crashed into a car, which rolled three times. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured.

The man was swiftly apprehended by law enforcement officers.
