KZN police on high alert ahead of premier’s inauguration

Provincial and national police have confirmed that more boots are on the ground to ensure police presence, especially in crime hotspots.

KZN police and the provincial government are ready to usher in the new premier today, provincial police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda said yesterday.

KZN Premier Thami Ntuli is also expected to announce his Cabinet.

Netshiunda’s assurance follows the national police commissioner, General Fannie Masemola’s, announcement on Sunday that over 400 additional public order policing officers had been deployed to the region.

Masemola reportedly said the focus of the deployment will be on crime hotspots, particularly Zululand and eThekwini.
