KZN tactical officer dives into raging water to rescue dog

With only a rope to secure him against the force of the water, a brave man put his safety on the line to rescue a distressed dog.

Members of PT Alarms’ Tactical Unit sprang into action to rescue a dog from drowning in the Merebank canal in Durban, KZN, this morning.

According to PT Alarms’ spokesperson Dhevan Govindasamy, PT Alarms’ Tactical Unit, renowned for their bravery and fearlessness, was dispatched to the scene after the PT Alarms Control Centre received multiple calls for assistance from residents that a dog was floundering in the canal.

Without hesitation, the members sprang into action to rescue the scared dog.

Govindasamy, who assisted with the rescue, says tactical K9 officer Bradwynne Steven Holder jumped into the gushing Merebank canal to rescue the distressed canine that was struggling in the water.

“The PT Tactical members secured the officer with a rope and lowered him into the canal. He managed to brave the rushing waters and grab onto the shivering four-legged victim. Once firmly in possession of the trembling dog, the PT Tactical officer was pulled to safety by team members,” he adds.

Govindasamy says the grateful canine shrugged off the terrifying ordeal and the excess water and made off with a glance of appreciation to his rescuer and the team.

“We care about the community and our furry friends,” he adds.
