KZN teen paralysed after breaking back in accident

JJ Horn (18), who was a passenger in the vehicle, broke his back in the accident which occurred on Seaslopes Road in Manaba on the South Coast.

A mother whose son who was involved in an accident last Friday, is asking the South Coast community to pray for a miracle.

Magda Meyer of Uvongo said her son, JJ Horn (18), who was a passenger in the vehicle, broke his back in the accident which occurred on Seaslopes Road in Manaba during the early hours.

Horn is currently in the Port Shepstone Regional Hospital and is waiting to be transferred to Durban.

An emotional Meyer said her son is paralysed from the waist down.

“My son keeps asking when are they going to fix him?” she said.

Meyer added that she just needs the community to pray for her son’s recovery.

Police spokesperson Captain Petros Mpinge said Margate police is investigating a case of reckless and negligent driving after a silver Ford Ranger tow truck overturned.

“Two men were injured in the accident and taken by ambulance to hospital,” he said.

The cause of the accident is yet to be established.
