Laudium hijacking sees 17-year-old taken, later released

A 17-year-old was taken during a hijacking in Laudium before being dropped off in Pretoria West, while his older brother managed to escape.

Laudium police are investigating a case of hijacking and kidnapping after a 17-year-old was taken, along with a Toyota Corolla Prestige, by two suspects early yesterday morning.

According to Pretoria Rekord, police spokesperson Captain Johan van Dyk said a 26-year-old man was reversing out of his yard on 11th Avenue, Laudium, at around 07:05. His 17-year-old brother was also in the car.

Armed suspects accost brothers

Van Dyk added that they were approached by two unknown males.

“Both men were armed and instructed the driver to exit the car and move to the back seat. When the vehicle started moving, the 26-year-old managed to jump out.”

Teen later released

The suspects later dropped the 17-year-old off in Pretoria West.
