Limpopo man arrested for allegedly hacking his father to death

A man, who is said to have killed his father during what appears to be a domestic dispute, was arrested yesterday and will appear in court tomorrow.

A 28-year-old man will appear before the Motetema Magistrate’s Court in Limpopo tomorrow, to face a charge of murder after allegedly hacking his father (58) to death.

The man was arrested yesterday, at his home in Leeuwfontein, Motetema, after allegedly killing his father during an apparent domestic dispute.

Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba says the duo was doing construction work in their yard when they allegedly got into an altercation.

“The son [allegedly] grabbed a spade and hacked the victim multiple times.

“The police and emergency services were called to the scene where they found the victim lying in a pool of blood. He was declared dead on the scene,” says Malesela.

The victim’s son was arrested on the scene and a case of murder was opened.

“The circumstances that led to the brutal act are under investigation,” says Malesela.

Provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe condemned the incident and called on the public to resolve matters in a civil manner rather than resorting to violence.
