Limpopo: Seven trial-awaiting prisoners escape from holding cells, manhunt launched
The prisoners were apprehended for various offences such as contravention of the Explosives Act, rape and armed robbery.
In a statement released, Police spokesperson, Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe, says the seven awaiting trial prisoners escaped from the Police holding cells on Saturday, Polokwane Review reports.
“It is alleged that these prisoners escaped at around 20:00, during the routine service by the Police,” he explained.
Ngoepe says the escapees have been identified as follows:






“The circumstance around this incident is a subject of ongoing Police investigations.”
Anyone with information that can lead to the re-arrest of these escapees is requested to contact Captain Richard Boshomane at 079 894 5501.
