Load-shedding reduced to stage 3 from tonight

Eskom has announced that a reduction in load-shedding after sufficient recovery in generation capacity and reserves were made today.

The power utility said that emergency generation reserves have sufficiently improved to permit a reduction in the stage of load-shedding.

Generation units at Matla, Medupi, Kusile and Camden power stations have returned to service while units at Matla, Lethabo and Arnot power stations were taken offline for repairs.

Eskom said it expects two more units to return to service today while another five generation units are expected to be back in service by Monday afternoon.

Stage 3 load-shedding will be implemented from 21:00 tonight until 05:00 tomorrow morning where after stage 2 will be implemented until 05:00 on Monday morning.
