Load-shedding update: Here’s your schedule for the weekend

Slightly less load-shedding can be expected over the weekend.

Eskom has made the latest load-shedding schedule available, bringing some good news for South Africans.

As previously reported, stage 3 load-shedding will be implemented at 16:00 today and will last until 05:00 tomorrow morning.

Thereafter, load-shedding will be suspended from 05:00 until 16:00 tomorrow afternoon. Stage 1 will then kick in and last until 05:00 on Sunday.

“The pattern implemented on Saturday will be repeated on Sunday. This is as a result of the anticipated lower weekend demand,” said Eskom spokesperson Daphne Mokwena on Friday afternoon.

She said Eskom will provide an update for next week on Sunday afternoon.

“A total of 3 100MW of generating capacity is planned to be returned by Monday. The evening peak forecast for tonight is 25 848MW. Unplanned outages are at 14 144MW and planned maintenance is at 7 674MW of generation capacity,” Mokwena said.
