Mahindra Scorpio-N sets new Guinness World Record for desert crossing
Mahindra has achieved a remarkable feat with its flagship model as it has shattered a significant record.
Mahindra announced that a team of two skilled drivers has successfully established a new Guinness World Record for the ‘Fastest crossing of the Simpson Desert by a production vehicle’. The trip covered 1 100 dunes, extreme temperatures and more than 300km in 13 hours.
The Scorpio-N now holds the prestigious title of being the fastest production vehicle to conquer the challenging conditions of the daunting Simpson Desert in Australia. In an impressive display of endurance, the trusted Mahindra steed tackled over 1 100 sand dunes and braved scorching temperatures, reaching a peak of 50 degrees Celsius. The rugged Mahindra Scorpio-N completed this arduous task and set the world record within a 13-hour timeframe.
Behind the wheel of the Scorpio-N were co-drivers Gene Corbett from Total Driver and Ben Robinson from 4WD Industries. Accompanied by a team of photographers and videographers, they documented this epic adventure. Guinness World Records officials verified their record-breaking journey.
Reflecting on this historic achievement, Gene Corbett expressed his awe by stating, “The Mahindra Scorpio-N has proven its unbeatable durability, high endurance, and unmatched capability by becoming the fastest production vehicle to conquer the Simpson Desert, one of the world’s toughest desert crossings, without a single blemish. Being part of this historic record has been an incredible experience.”
During the 13-hour record attempt, the Scorpio-N covered a gruelling 385 kilometres of challenging desert terrain, starting from Birdsville and concluding the drive at Alkaseltzer Bore. Along the way, the Scorpio-N triumphed over salt flats situated 20 metres above sea level, which posed a significant challenge due to their high moisture content.
This historic accomplishment stands as a testament to the Scorpio-N’s exceptional off-road performance, complemented by the unyielding spirit and expertise of its drivers.
