Man arrested over threats to shut down Durban stadium

Police in KZN have issued a warning against public instability following threats to the prevent MTN8 Cup final.

A man has been arrested by police in KZN for allegedly threatening to shut down Moses Mabhida Stadium ahead of the MTN8 Cup final between Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns today (October 9).

Berea Mail reported
that police arrested the man at King Dinizulu Park.

“The suspect issued threats that he and his followers would shut down Moses Mabhida Stadium to prevent the MTN8 Cup Final match between Orlando Pirates FC and Mamelodi Sundowns from taking place.

“The suspect had gathered a group of people at King Dinizulu Park with the aim of staging a march. Those who were with him managed to run away,” said police spokesperson, Robert Netshuinda.

Police are reiterating that anyone who threatens to cause instability would be dealt with in accordance with the law.
