Man dies in hail of bullets in Durban

A shooting incident near a retirement home has claimed the life of a man believed to be in his 40s.

A man believed to be in his 40a died from multiple gunshot wounds in Bell Street, Durban South Beach, last night, according to an Advanced Life Support (ALS) Paramedics report.

ALS spokesperson Garrith Jamieson says they had received multiple distress calls of a shooting incident around 20:00, near TAFTA Retirement Home.

“When we arrived at the scene, we found that the South African Police Service was already at the scene, and the area was now a closed active crime scene. Paramedics were then shown a man, believed to be in his 40s, who had sustained multiple gunshot injuries to his body,” explains Jamieson.

According to him, paramedics pronounced the man dead on the scene. Jamieson says the events leading up to the shooting are unknown, however, the SAPS will be investigating further.

Police is yet to comment on the shooting incident.
