Man drowns in Kwena Dam near Lydenburg while fishing

The man's body was recovered by the Ehlanzeni Police Diving Unit earlier today.

According to a statement issued by the office of the provincial commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, the 39-year-old man drowned in the Kwena Dam near Lydenburg.

Captain Pottie Potgieter of the Ehlanzeni Police Diving Unit confirmed it was Malalane local, Wilmer Els, who died in the accident.

The Mpumalanga police are investigating the drowning. His body was discovered today and retrieved by rescuers.

According to the report, the man drowned while he was fishing at the dam.
