Man found hanging from tree near Sandton

Police have opened an inquest docket after the body of an unknown man was found hanging from a tree near the M1 in Bramley, near Sandton, Johannesburg on Friday morning.

According to police spokesperson Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, a passerby on his way to work discovered the body at about 8am and alerted police.

“Police then arrived at the scene, and we are still investigating the case,” Maphakela said.

Maphakela added the circumstances surrounding the man’s death were not yet clear and would be subject to the ongoing investigations.

This was followed by police blocking off the N1 south highway due to a suicide attempt on the Albertina Sisulu Road (previously Maraisburg Road) bridge in Bosmont, Johannesburg
