Man hospitalised after being shot outside Boksburg North pub

According to the police, Morné Rabie (31) was shot three times in the upper body, and is still in ICU.

The Boksburg North police are investigating a case of attempted murder after Morné Rabie (31) was hospitalised after being shot outside Buurman’s Pub and Grill in Boksburg North on Saturday.

Although details on the shooting remain sketchy, Boksburg North SAPS station commander Colonel Mack Mngomezulu says the shooting happened after a commotion that started inside the restaurant.

Mngomezulu adds bouncers asked those involved to leave the premises, and the fight escalated outside.

“One of the men is alleged to have then fetched a gun from his car and shot the victim three times in the upper body,” he says.

Rabie was taken to a local hospital for medical attention.

“He is still in ICU, according to the information I received,” adds Mngomezulu.

The owner of Buurman’s, who asked to remain anonymous, wished Rabie a speedy recovery and said they are co-operating with the police.

Rabie’s family was not ready to speak to the Boksburg Advertiser at the time of publication.

The newspaper will update the story as new details emerge.

• In an unrelated case, three men were arrested after a woman was killed and two men injured in a shooting in the parking area of the Key Largo Centre on Trichardts Road on May 18.
