Man shot and wounded in suspected road rage incident in Durban
One man was shot in an apparent road rage incident on Kenyon Howden Road in Montclair.
A man was shot and wounded in an incident that reportedly stemmed from a road rage incident in Montclair, Durban, yesterday.
According to police sources, the injured man and his brother were travelling on Kenyon Howden Road when they noticed the driver of a KIA Picanto trying to overtake their car.
A police report alleged the driver insulted the two men, and this resulted in an exchange of words.
It’s alleged that the man, armed with a knife and firearm, jumped out of his car and fired shots towards the two men.
One man was shot in the leg while the other managed to escape unhurt after he ran for cover when the gunman opened fire on them. The shooter then drove off towards Montclair Mall.
Montclair police spokesperson Sergeant Noma Mnguni says the man handed himself over to the police shortly after the incident.
“He opened a case of attempted robbery at the police station. He alleged that the two men tried to rob him. The injured man was transported to hospital for further care. He also opened a case of attempted murder,” adds Mnguni.
According to police sources, both drivers were driving on Kenyon Howden Road in Montclair when a brawl ensued.
Mnguni says Montclair police are investigating cases of attempted murder and robbery.
