Man shot at Brakpan Cemetery while visiting wife’s grave

The victim was thrown into the boot of his car, and while inside he managed to call his daughter who took him to hospital.

A 74-year-old Dalview man is in a critical condition in hospital after he was shot at the Brakpan Cemetery this morning.

According to Brakpan police, the incident took place at around 10:00 as the victim was visiting the site where his wife is buried.

He was standing at the grave when a lone gunman approached him and fired a shot, hitting the victim in the stomach.

The victim was then dragged to his car by the gunman and loaded into the boot.

The shooter then tried to start the car but was unsuccessful.

While locked in the boot, the victim was able to phone his daughter who lives nearby.

The gunman fled the scene and the victim’s daughter arrived at the cemetery to help her father.

He was taken to a local hospital.

A case of attempted murder has been opened.
