Man sought for assistance in Durban minor’s sexual assault case

A 17-year-old girl was in December approached by an unknown male, who forced himself on her.

The Sydenham Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit in Durban are seeking assistance in solving a case of sexual assault they are investigating.

According to detective Warrant Officer MI Cele, it is alleged that on December 31 at about 18:30, a victim (aged 17) was at her place of residence on Sparks Road doing washing outside her house.

“She was approached by an unknown male who came from behind and touched her breasts. The victim informed him to stop what he was doing, but he continued until the victim managed to run inside the house and lock herself there. He tried to follow her, however, the door was locked,” explains Cele.

Police believe the male in the identikit can be of assistance in solving the case.

“Anyone with information that can assist the detectives to solve the case should contact Sydenham Police,” adds Cele.

If you have any information that may help police with this case, contact Detective Warrant Officer MI Cele on 083 300 1371 or the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111.
