Man stabbed to death in George

A suspect was arrested at the local police station following a confrontation between him and community members.

A 22-year old male was arrested earlier today in connection with the death of a man (25) in Snake Street, Ballotsview in George in the early hours of the morning.

“It is alleged that the victim was stabbed,” said provincial police spokesperson Sergeant Christopher Spies.

“He sustained two stab wounds to the chest and was declared dead by paramedics on scene.” The incident happened about 00:35 on Sunday.

“The suspect was arrested at the police station following a confrontation between him and community members,” said Spies.

“He remains in custody and is expected to appear in the George Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday on a charge of murder. The investigation into this killing continues.”
