Manhunt launched after Bryanston shooting leaves gym owner dead

SAPS launches a manhunt for three suspects after a Bryanston gym owner was shot dead in front of his wife and two young children.

The investigation into the brutal killing of a well-known Bryanston gym owner has intensified, with SAPS Johannesburg District spokesperson Mpho Tshehlani confirming they have launched a manhunt for three suspects linked to the deadly attack.

According to Sandton Chronicle, Tshehlani says a case of murder and house robbery is under investigation at Sandton Police Station following the incident, which took place in the early hours of Thursday.

Attack details

“This after a family of four was allegedly confronted by three unknown armed men who entered their house at Sandton on November 13 at about 01:00.

“A struggle ensued between the suspects and the victims. One of the suspects fired a shot, at a 37 years old man. The suspects then ransacked the house and took jewellery and two cellphones before they fled the scene.”

She adds that the man was rushed to hospital where he died. “No one has been arrested yet. Police investigations are continuing.”

Community reaction

This update comes after the community was left reeling over the violent nature of the attack, initially reported as possibly linked to either a home invasion or a follow-home robbery.

Police are now urging residents to come forward with any information that might help bring the perpetrators to justice.

“We appeal to community members with information that might assist with police investigations to contact Sandton Police Station, the nearest police station, or the police Crime Stop number 08600 10111, or alternatively use the MySAPS app to provide tip-offs anonymously,” Tshehlani concludes.
