Manhunt launched after fatal drive-by shooting in Florida

A man, said to be a member of a taxi association, was shot multiple times, while his wife was grazed by a bullet.

Police have launched a manhunt for the suspects responsible for a fatal drive-by shooting that occurred in Florida, Gauteng, yesterday.

The shooting took place at the intersection of Constantia and William Nicol Drive, near the 14th Avenue bridge.

According to police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo, the victim, who was accompanied by his wife, was shot by gunmen in a white vehicle. The man sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was declared dead at the scene, while his wife was grazed by a bullet.

Although the motive is still unclear, authorities suspect the killing could be linked to taxi violence, as the deceased was reportedly a member of a taxi association.

Police are continuing their investigation and have urged anyone with information to contact their nearest police station or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
