Massive fire breaks out at Randfontein cooking oil factory

The cause of the fire and the extent of damage suffered after a massive blaze earlier today are unclear at this stage.

A massive fire broke out at a cooking oil factory along Homestead Avenue in Randfontein early this morning.

It’s not clear what caused the inferno that engulfed parts of the factory and the exact extent of the damage is unknown. However, photographs taken show parts of the factory sustained significant damage.

The Randfontein Herald contacted the company and fire department but both are yet to issue statements on the incident.

Their feedback will be published once received.

Security on the premises were also approached, but did not want to comment.
