Matrics of 2025: How to get your matric results

Don’t wait in line, matrics – register now and get your results delivered instantly when they’re out.

Hey, matrics! Caxton Local Media has an easy way for you to get your results delivered straight to your phone.

According to the Department of Basic Education (DBE), the education minister will announce the outcome of the matric exams on January 12.

Results will be released to learners on January 13 from the school or centre where they wrote the exams, and can be obtained via cellphone as set out below.

The department says that technical issues may, in certain cases, cause the unavailability of results via cellphone. Matrics who experience this issue should contact their school or the relevant provincial education department for assistance.

How to register to get your matric results delivered to your phone

Here’s an easy way to get your results – ASAP!

Before you get started, note that you can use only one cellphone number per exam number to receive your results, as per the DBE’s guidelines.

This service applies only to the DBE’s National Senior Certificate examinations and not to Independent Examinations Board exams.

  1. Get your exam number and cellphone!

You need your exam number to access your matric results.

  1. Register via SMS or USSD

* SMS: Send your exam number to 35658 to register. You’ll receive reminders and step-by-step USSD instructions to check your results on January 13.

(SMSes are charged at R1.50 each. Free SMSes do not apply.)

(USSD charged at 50c per 20 seconds. Free minutes do not apply.)

(*According to the DBE, those who submit their personal information via the delivery methods mentioned above give consent for their personal information to be processed to communicate their examination results. The DBE reiterates that any person who communicates personal information via this service guarantees that they are legally authorised to do so.)

The DBE reiterates the following:

These results are preliminary and, therefore, in the case of omissions, candidates must contact the school, district or provincial education department.

Bursaries are available from the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) for any course of study. Contact NSFAS on 08600 NSFAS (08600 67327), email info@nsfas.org.za or visit www.nsfas.org.za

Although every effort has been taken to ensure the accuracy of the results, note that candidates’ results may have been omitted or inaccurately printed due to technical reasons.
