Metro police officer shot dead in Soweto

A law enforcement officer was gunned down while parked outside her family’s home.

The murder of a traffic officer has shaken the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD).

JMPD officer Khensani Mabaso (32) was shot dead in her car, which was parked outside her family home, in Diepkloof, Soweto, yesterday.

Mabaso was on duty at the time of her death and was in full uniform.

Her fully marked JMPD patrol vehicle was parked outside her family home. Preliminary observations suggest a possible robbery attempt, as her cell phone was missing.

The JMPD has opened a murder case at Diepkloof Police Station for further investigation.

JMPD acting chief of police Patrick Jaca expressed his deepest condolences to Mabaso’s family, friends and colleagues, assuring them that the department will leave no stone unturned in pursuing justice and finding the perpetrators.
