Missing KZN man found dead

A decomposed body found in a ditch in Gcilima, near Southbroom, in KwaZulu-Natal on Tuesday has been identified as that of Hendrik Havenga.

The identity of the body was confirmed this morning by police spokesperson Captain Gerald Mfeka, who said Havenga (53) had died from a gunshot wound to the head, South Coast Heraldreported.

Havenga had been reported missing on January 20.

Police are investigating a case of murder.

In a separate case, 15-year-old Nokukhanya Zama was found dead after going missing on January 11 while walking to the Folweni taxi rank on her way to church in KwaMakhutha.

Police opened an inquest docket after Zama’s body was found hanged in a bush.

In November, KwaZulu-Natal police were investigating a murder after a woman went missing from the Malvern Park Mall and was found with her throat slit.

Nalin Naidoo (35) was believed to have been dropped off at the Malvern Park Mall by her husband, local businessman, Seelan Naidoo.

Police spokesperson Colonel Jay Naicker said the motive for the killing remained unknown, and no arrests had been made.
