Moreleta Park man recovers at home after 4m ladder fall
Emergency services confirmed a Pretoria East resident narrowly missed critical injuries when his ladder slipped while he was washing walls.
A 58-year-old man is recovering at home after surgery for a deep neck wound sustained when he fell about 4m from a ladder in Moreleta Park, Pretoria East, yesterday (September 1).
According to the Volunteer Emergency Medical Response Unit (VEMRU), emergency services were called shortly after 14:00, reports Pretoria Rekord.
The man’s family said he had been standing on the ladder to wash walls when it slipped out from underneath him.
His family said he fell approximately 4m and struck his jaw against the ladder and the ground, with the wound extending from his chin about 10cm down his neck.
VEMRU said the wound narrowly missed his trachea and major blood vessels.
His family said he sustained no other injuries apart from bruising.
He was stabilised at the scene before being taken to a nearby hospital for further treatment, where he underwent surgery.
He has since been discharged and is recovering at home.
