Mother, son shot dead in KZN
A 58-year-old woman and her 35-year-old son were allegedly gunned down at Inteneshane Reserve, near Mtunzini, KwaZulu-Natal, on Monday.
It is alleged an unknown assailant forced entry into their rondavel and shot the mother in the forehead and twice in her lower back, while the son also sustained a bullet wound to the head. They both died on the scene, Zululand Observer reported.
Residents have raised their safety concerns after another seemingly unrelated murder in Mtunzinilast week.
A local liquor store manager was murdered on Wednesday. According to the police, Sipho Nsibande, 53, was gunned down in the trading premises by an unknown gunman.
They said Nsibande was with his girlfriend when a man entered the bottle store and started shooting.
He died at the scene after sustaining a bullet wound to the head, while his partner was rushed to Ngwelezana Hospital for medical attention.
In January, a father and son were shot and wounded at their business premises in Pinetown, Durban, on Thursday morning, KwaZulu-Natal police said.
The 51-year-old man and his 33-year-old son were shot in Nagina, police spokesperson Major Thulani Zwane said.
In June, a 23-year-old man and his father were shot dead after a fight broke out at Matlala Tavern in Block T of Soshanguve, Pretoria.
Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Lolo Mangena said a group of men were gambling at a tavern in the early hours of Saturday when suddenly a fight broke out. Apparently the 23-year-old son’s money was taken from him by a fellow gambler.
“The man then called his father, and a few minutes later his father came to confront the alleged perpetrator. During the confrontation, the father was shot three times in the chest, and when his son tried to get involved, he was shot twice. Both of them died on the scene,” Mangena added
