Motorist shot multiple times in Pretoria suburb

The victim was injured and the car left with bullet holes all over it.

Residents of Booysens in Pretoria were left in shock after gunshots were heard in Van der Hoff Road and Theo Slabbert Street last night.

According to the spokesperson for Ambu-Link Emergency Medical Services, Xander Loubser, a man sustained serious injuries after he was shot several times, allegedly by two unknown men.

Loubser said when his team arrived on the scene, the victim had already been transported to hospital and the suspects had fled on foot.

He said the victim’s car was, however, left at the scene of the crime with bullet holes all over it.

“Reports from eyewitnesses say two men shot at the vehicle multiple times.

“After the suspects shot the man, they ran into a nearby informal settlement,” he said.

Loubser added that there was no trace of blood at the crime scene but he was told by community members that a private ambulance transported the victim to a nearby hospital.

“We don’t know what the motive behind the shooting was. It could have been a hijacking or a targeted hit.

“We handed the case over to the police station and they will investigate further,” he said.

Police could not be reached at the time of going to press.
