Mpumalanga boy shot in the head during robbery

Police, security companies and members of the local community policing forum are currently searching for the suspect.

A nine-year-old boy is reportedly in hospital recovering from a gunshot wound to the head after he was shot during a house robbery in a house in White River this morning.

ER24 Lowveld’s regional manager, Greg Wilcox, said the incident had occurred at about 11:15 at a house in Essenhout Street.

When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene, the boy was found to be in a stable condition and was conscious.

He was treated on the scene by ER24 with the assistance of paramedics of Securicon Lowveld before being rushed to Mediclinic Nelspruit where he remains in a stable condition.

Lowvelder arrived on the scene shortly after the shooting occurred and established that some local security companies, the police and the White River Community Policing Forum had rushed out and are currently searching for the suspect.

Currently, it is unclear whether anything was stolen from the house during the incident.
