The incident involved two sedans, a van and a truck.

Three people have died and ten were injured in a multi-vehicle south of Nyl Plaza, Limpopo earlier yesterday afternoon, Review Online reports.

The incident involved four vehicles and according to Mike Maringa, Media Liaison Officer for the Department of Transport and Community Safety the collision happened on the N1 at Tobias outside Mookgophong in the Waterberg District.

“It is alleged the driver of a sedan lost control of the vehicle and collided with a van, another sedan and a truck.”

He added that seven people were critically inured while three escaped with minor injuries. “Preliminary investigations revealed that a burst tyre may be the leading cause of the incident.”

Both northbound lanes were closed for traffic and motorists were diverted on to the R101 at Mookgophong. One southbound lane was open for traffic.
