Murder of Tweni couple rocks community

Murray and Julie Ross, long-time South Coast residents, were a much-loved and popular couple.

The couple murdered in their home in Umtentweni has been identified as Murray and Julie Ross.

Police spokesman Captain Petros Mpinge said a case of murder was being investigated by Port Shepstone Saps.

He said the two residents, aged 67 and 60, were found with stab wounds to their neck and head at about noon yesterday (August 28).

“It is alleged that the domestic worker had received a call to come and assist in offloading goods after shopping. However, on arrival she noticed the car parked in the yard with the doors open. She started taking items into the house. When she entered the house she discovered the deceased lying on the floor bleeding profusely,” said Mpinge.

He said she then reported this to the neighbours who called the police.

“They were pronounced dead at the scene,” said Mpinge.

“The initial investigation revealed that the unknown suspects forced open a burglar guard to gain entry. The house was completely ransacked. No arrests have been made yet.”
