Murdered in Limpopo: R500k reward for Cape Town woman’s killer
Atarah Katzeff’s family is offering R500 000 for information that leads to the conviction of her killer after she was murdered last year.
The family of Atarah Katzeff, a 22-year-old woman from Cape Town who was found murdered at the Warriors Academy in Magoebaskloof, Limpopo, has announced a R500 000 reward for information leading to the arrest, prosecution and conviction of her killer.
Letaba Herald reports that Katzeff’s body was discovered at midday on July 28, 2024, in her room on the academy’s campus, where she worked as a facilitator.
A post-mortem confirmed the cause of death as strangulation.
According to earlier reports by the Herald, there were no signs of forced entry or a struggle, and her room was undisturbed. Nothing was reported stolen.
Katzeff had a longstanding connection to the Warriors Academy, having completed its gap year programme in 2022 and a multi-activity adventure instructor programme in 2023.
She returned to join the academy’s staff as a junior facilitator in early 2024.
Warriors Academy spokesperson Rowena Viljoen-Van Schalkwyk stated in an August 2024 media release that the campus was unusually quiet on the night of the murder.
“No programmes or school camps were running, and the Viljoen family, staff, and all students were off-site at the time,” she said.
“The property’s unusual emptiness and the lack of forced entry or signs of struggle have added complexity to the investigation.”
The Katzeff family has appointed Sophia Dewberry as family liaison, private investigation and reward manager.
Dewberry emphasised that all tips would be handled with the utmost confidentiality and that the identities of informants would be protected.
Anyone with relevant information is urged to WhatsApp 079 891 7379, email: leads@justice4atarah.co.za, or contact the investigating officer, Captain Jimmy Kubayi, at 072 905 5678.
The reward is subject to terms and conditions.
