Mystery over KZN man’s murder: Family seeks answers

Dale Kistna's body was found in bushes with his gold teeth as well as hair from his head missing. His family is offering a reward for information about his murderers.

Family of murdered Dale (Danyaal) Kistna (32) from Marburg, Porth Shepstone on the South Coast, is pleading with the public to help them catch those responsible for his death after his body was discovered on February 28.

Kistna was last seen on Wednesday, February 23, wearing a blue shirt, blue jeans and tennis shoes.

His body was discovered five days later, on February 28, at Bombo Ward, KwaNdelu Location in Msinsini, an hour’s drive from Port Shepstone.

Kistna’s sister, Diamond, had been searching frantically for her brother since his disappearance.

It was a press statement released by the police and published on the South Coast Herald’s website that led her to finding Kistna.

In the statement, police were searching for his next-of-kin, and his tattoos – ‘Dale’ – and the words – ‘Only God can judge me’ – was distinctively tattooed on his right arm.

Kistna says her brother’s body was found discarded in a bushy, isolated area, he was only wearing his boxer shorts. His six to seven gold teeth were missing. It also appeared that he had been tortured and beaten. Hair was also missing from his head.

Kistna was described by his sister as a well-liked, friendly, out-going person. Although he wasn’t perfect, he had a good heart. He loved cars, good food and the gym.

He leaves behind a four-year-old daughter.

“His death comes as a shock to the family, and they have so many unanswered questions. Dale comes from a good, loving family. No matter what he did, nobody had the right to murder and dump his body like they did,” his sister says.

She has had many sleepless nights since her brother’s death, and the incident has left her family broken and shaken. They are desperate to find closure. The family is offering a reward to anyone with information that will lead them to Kistna’s murderers.

“His death is a huge mystery, and we are searching for closure and answers, and are hoping the police can assist us.”

Police spokesman Captain Petros Mpinge confirmed that the police in Msinsini is investigating a case of murder, and no arrests have been made so far.

Anyone with any information can contact investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Isabel Ngcobo on 039 699 1600 at Msinsini police.
