New rules apply if you are moving house during level 4 lockdown

If you want to move house, take note as new regulations have been issued governing moves crossing provincial, metropolitan and district boundaries during level 4 lockdown.

Previously, people had the opportunity to move to a new home on a once-off basis until June 7. This however,  no longer applies.

Under the new regulations (level 4 lockdown) victims of domestic violence may also move and businesses may relocate to new premises. Homeowners are allowed to move household goods, and office furniture may be moved in the case of businesses.

However, in order to move, a permit is required. These can be obtained from a court or police station, and should include details of persons who are part of the household and who will also need to move.

The person moving should have in their possession the relevant lease agreements indicating the date of expiry of the old lease or the date of commencement of the new lease; proof of purchase of residence and occupation date; a domestic violence order; or proof of change or new occupation of business premises.

Permits which have already been granted are still valid.
