Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths of two people who were found shot in a car.

Norkem Park SAPS are investigating the details surrounding an apparent murder-suicide that took place on Monday.

According to Norkem Park SAPS spokesperson Warrant Officer Barbara-Anne Ferreira, at 14:00 on Monday, police officers responded to a complaint of reckless driving at the intersection of Mooifontein Road and Pongola River Drive.

“When officers arrived they found a grey Volkswagen Jetta with two occupants [inside].

“The female driver was found to have sustained a bullet wound to her neck,” says Ferreira.

She adds that a man in the passenger seat had sustained two bullet wounds to his neck and lower jaw.

“The responding officer also found that the man had a firearm in his right hand,” Ferreira confirms.

She says paramedics were called to the scene and both occupants of the vehicle were declared dead.

“One case of murder and an inquest docket was opened and will be investigated.”
