One arrested in R400-million drug bust
More arrests were expected to be made as investigations continue after drugs valued at an estimated R400-million were seized.
Drugs valued at an estimated street value of R400-million were recovered by police when they acted on information they received on Wednesday.
“It is alleged that a bakkie towing a 12-foot ski boat was stopped along the N1 north, near the R21 flying saucer interchange.

“Upon searching the boat, the team found 800kg of pure compressed cocaine with an estimated street value of R400-million,” police spokesperson Colonel Katlego Mogale said.
A 39-year-old suspect was arrested.
Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, also known as the Hawks, nation investigation head Lieutenant General Godfrey Lebeya commended the team for their massive success.
“Today’s drug seizure has dealt a blow to these illegal activities. Let us not leave any stone unturned in addressing the proliferation of illegal drugs within the country,” he said.

The arrest was executed as a result of a multi-disciplinary team comprising of members from the Hawks, SA Narcotic Enforcement Bureau, Pretoria Serious Organised Crime and Tactical Operations Management Section.
“Investigations are continuing and more arrests are imminent,” Mogale said.
