One dead in head-on collision in Hibberdene

Four other people were left injured in the crash that involved two vehicles.

One person died in a head-on collision on the R102,  Hibberdene off-ramp in KwaZulu-Natal on Saturday at about 18:00

The vehicles involved were two bakkies and rescue personnel used the jaws-of-life to remove the driver and passenger in one of the vehicles.

A spokesperson for Kwazulu Private Ambulance Service said paramedics quickly assessed the scene and found that one patient had sustained critical injuries and four patients had sustained minor injuries.

“The patients were treated on scene before being transported to hospital for further treatment. Sadly, one person died at the scene before emergency services arrived.”

Police will investigate the cause of the accident.
