One dead in Polokwane CBD shooting, say police

The police have confirmed that only one person was killed in the shooting incident, not two as reported by authorities who were on the scene of the crime

The police in Limpopo are investigating one death, that of a 32-year-old woman, after a shooting incident in the parking garage on the corner of Grobler and Landdros Maré streets, yesterday afternoon.

In a statement issued late Thursday evening, the police confirmed one person was shot and killed during the incident, not two people as previously stated by authorities who were on the scene of the crime.

The woman was with an unknown man when she was shot several times, allegedly by her husband (34).

Preliminary police investigations at the time revealed that the husband had found his wife, in a vehicle with another man. “It is alleged an argument ensued between the husband and wife, whereby he produced a firearm and shot her several times. She died instantly.”

A firearm was recovered on the scene. “Ballistic examinations will determine whether the firearm was used to commit the murder and whether if it was used in the commission of other serious crimes.”

The suspect faces one count of murder and is expected to appear in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court soon.
