Palm Ridge High Court jails serial rapist for 129 years
DNA evidence linked Daniel Molefe to multiple cases, leading to his conviction on several charges and a combined sentence of 129 years.
Daniel Nchawe Molefe (33) may never see the light of day again after being convicted on multiple charges, including several counts of rape.
Sedibeng Ster reports that Molefe was identified in different cases through DNA evidence, ultimately confirming him as a serial rapist.
According to local police spokesperson Constable Thulisile Msibi, several cases were opened at Evaton Police Station between 2019 and 2023.
“Evaton detective Sergeant Bafana Radebe ensured no stone was left unturned during the investigation of these cases and made sure that the victims got justice. The linking dockets were identified, collected and centralised,” Msibi says.
Arrest and court proceedings
On October 1, 2024, the suspect was traced and arrested. All the cases were successfully placed on the court roll and Molefe was tried at the Palm Ridge High Court on the following charges, with sentences outlined:
- Count 1: Rape – life imprisonment
- Count 2: Assault – four years’ imprisonment
- Count 3: Kidnapping – two years’ imprisonment
- Count 4: Rape – life imprisonment
- Count 5: Rape – life imprisonment
- Count 6: Assault – four years’ imprisonment
- Count 7: Robbery – 15 years’ imprisonment
- Count 8: Rape – life imprisonment
In total, the accused was sentenced to 129 years’ imprisonment.
