Peter de Villiers suspended from GOOD

The former Springboks rugby coach has been suspended with immediate effect pending a disciplinary process.

Peter de Villiers has been suspended from the political party GOOD.

The party issued a statement on Friday afternoon, which mentions that De Villiers was suspended from all party activities ‘after receiving a complaint of sexual misconduct from a party member’.

GOOD said De Villiers’ suspension does not mean he has been found guilty of the offence.

“De Villiers’ suspension is not a finding of guilt; it reflects the seriousness of the allegations.”

The party said it would implement disciplinary processes to determine whether its constitution has been breached.

“Given the sensitive nature of the allegations, the party will, for now, be making no further comment on the matter.”

De Villiers’ comment on the matter will be added once it has been obtained.
