PHOTOS: Tom Cruise finally shows face in Hoedspruit

After countless rumours and glimpses, the Hollywood star finally took off his mask and greeted fans in Hoedspruit.

Local fans of Tom Cruise were delighted to finally spot the action movie star in Hoedspruit on Tuesday. He is in the Limpopo town for the filming of the latest instalment of the Mission: Impossible series.

Gillian Leigh Soames, a local photographer, was lucky enough to capture a few photographs of the actor as he greeted fans after getting out of a helicopter. Soames has been sharing sneak peeks on her Instagram page – @gilliansoamesleopardqueen.

The well-known actor and producer is said to be shooting a part of Mission Impossible: 8 in Kampersrus, just outside of Hoedspruit.

Last week, photographs were circulated of aeroplanes that had arrived in Hoedspruit, supposedly to be used in the shooting of the movie.

More excitement was caused when the actor was reportedly spotted at Oribi Gorge in KwaZulu-Natal, near Port Shepstone. Cruise was flying over the gorge in a helicopter to explore the location.

According to a tweet from Mission: Impossible Updates, the actor was flying his own helicopter.

The movie is directed by Christopher McQuarrie and not much is known about the plot, creating even more suspense among fans of the film series.

Cruise is well-known for his role as Ethan Hunt in the films and has been playing the role for more than 20 years. It is reported that the series has generated more than $3 billion worldwide.
